FileShooter – Gamified Desktop Cleanup

FileShooter transforms the chore of cleaning up overstuffed folders into a fast-paced, addictive strategy game. Rather than dragging and dropping files one by one, you’ll strap into your virtual “battlefield,” load your toolbox of high-impact utilities, and blast your way to a pristine directory.

Select Your Battlefield

Begin by choosing the target folder you want to conquer. FileShooter reads your folder’s contents and deploys each file as an interactive game piece on a full-screen canvas.

Master a Suite of Dynamic Tools

• Grabber

  Point, click and drag any file or folder, then drop it exactly where it belongs—no more hunting through nested menus.

• Draw Tool

  Sketch a freeform shape around a cluster of icons. When your shape closes, name a new folder on the spot and instantly group everything inside it.

• Gun

  Fire bouncing projectiles to delete unwanted files in style. Objects vanish in a small explosion and are sent straight to your designated “Graveyard.”

• Eraser

  Wipe out an entire folder—its contents are automatically promoted back to the parent directory before the folder itself is removed.

• C4 Charge

  Plant and detonate a charge on any folder to clear it out instantly, with all its contents safely relocated to your trash folder.

• Inspect

  Jump directly into Windows Explorer on any file or folder to review its properties, without breaking your flow.

Graveyard & Recovery

All “shot” or deleted files accumulate under the Graveyard view. From there you can restore any file back into the game field, giving you a safety net against misfires.

Real-World Results

Every in-game action maps to a real file-system change. When you sort, group, delete or restore, FileShooter executes the equivalent Windows operation behind the scenes—so your disk actually becomes the clean, organized workspace you just mastered.

Independent, Windows-Exclusive Innovation

This is an independent project built from the ground up. If you encounter any errors or bugs, please post them on the discussion board and I’ll address them promptly. FileShooter currently runs only on Windows, but I believe in this one-of-a-kind concept. If it proves successful, I will expand support to macOS and Linux. I appreciate all the support so far and hope to continue upgrading this game.
